The mission of Kate’s Club is to empower children and teens facing life after the death of a parent or sibling. Kate’s Club members and over 100 volunteers each year engage in programs that provide social, recreational and emotional support.
As a small nonprofit, Kate’s Club could not afford the addition of an IT person to its staff of social workers, therapists and program managers. Instead, they limped along with donated computers, a donated copier and donated time from well-meaning IT volunteers who would do a project and then move on. It became obvious that Kate’s Club needed to get ahead of the technology curve when its server – a six-year-old donated desktop – was about to die.
Partnering with TechBridge® and its Adopt-a-Nonprofit® sponsor, Norfolk Southern, Kate’s Club received a donated, fully provisioned server including email and an upgraded data management system. Having a stable infrastructure, supported through TechBridge, has enabled Kate’s Club to reach more kids than ever before and fostered a 25% growth in program hours.
TechBridge has become our outsourced IT department. When you are a small to mid-size nonprofit, you don’t want to pay for a whole additional technology support person. To be able to work with TechBridge to manage our system, handle all of the back end things, as well as all of the little issues that arise in the course of doing business, has been a real game changer for us.
