TechBridge supporters in NCR’s Cyber Defense Center recently found a way to give back to Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Following the announcement of the five TechBridge Dream Big Technology Grant (Georgia) recipients, TechBridge Board members and Executive Ambassadors were provided with a list of the 40+ nonprofit projects that applied for technology grants but didn›t secure a grant. NCR’s VP of IT Governance Julie Untener (TechBridge board member) and CISO Bob Varnadoe (Executive Ambassador) zeroed in on a data security project described by the BSA (Atlanta Area Council).
TechBridge was already helping BSA Atlanta with its data strategy, and a logical next step was to address data security. As NCR Chief Information Security Officer, Bob Varnadoe shared the idea of engaging his team around the Boy Scout “dream” with Deputy CISO and Senior Director of the NCR Cyber Defense Center, Paul Farley, who had also been a Scouting volunteer for more than 7 years. The planets seem to align, and after a brief TechBridge introduction, NCR Cyber Defense is beginning to scope the data security project.
